I do wish we were staying longer but sadly this is the only time we can get off work at the moment. However, there is nothing stopping us coming back next year for a longer visit if this trip works out, particularly as Wolfie and I would both like to visit your neighbour Ukraine at some point too ^^
I think a 4-5 hour round driving trip on one of the days would work very well. On the map you have linked me to Тень, I would say Stalin Line, Kathyn and Mound of Glory look most interesting although I think Stalin Line and Kathyn would be quite similar. Which one is better?
The WWII period is interesting and is an aspect of Belarusian history I know about - we don't have to specifically look at WWII stuff though - it's just what the guidebooks suggest are good sites to visit. I would love to visit Mir, as well as just walking around some villages or smaller Belarusian towns.
With all this in mind, would it be possible to visit Stalin Line, Mound of Glory and Mir, perhaps over the course of one day? Can we cover all of Minsk on the other day?
We also have Monday morning in Minsk if anyone fancies meeting up with us then. We don't need to leave until lunchtime so we will have a little bit of time to have breakfast and see some more sights. A tour of Minsk at some point would be great - we could do this on Monday if anyone is free
The Ресторан Камянiца (incidentally Ресторан is one of the few words in Russian I do actually know
) looks brilliant - does it serve typically Belarusian food? Thanks for the suggestion.
Hope all this makes sense - the most important thing is to meet you all though and include as many of you as possible in whatever we do
